Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to use Devocean systems and those from another manufacturer in the same fishing zone without risking conflicts?

Yes, Devocean DRS buoys can be used in the same fishing zone as gear from other manufacturers. Thanks to the integration of the EarthRanger application, fishermen can locate upwelling equipment on request from other users, reducing the risk of gear conflicts.

How is the confidentiality of my data ensured with Devocean systems?

Your personal data is never shared, except with fisheries officers. The location of your buoys is transmitted anonymously only to users who are already in the vicinity of submerged systems. This minimizes the risk of conflicts, while guaranteeing the protection of your information.

What should I do if my buoy has been submerged without being properly armed?

If your buoy has been submerged without being properly armed, it is still possible to recover it. Even if the buoy doesn’t appear on the map, you can force its release via the application by sending an acoustic signal. This feature ensures safe ascent in this type of situation.

What should I do if I can’t trigger my buoy with the acoustic key?

If the acoustic signal fails, even after several attempts, your buoy is equipped with a safety timer. This timer, which you program when you launch the buoy, automatically ensures that the buoy is raised after the set time. This prevents any loss, even in the event of a problem with the acoustic signal.

What happens if my buoy’s battery runs out when it’s submerged?

If your buoy’s battery becomes too low, it automatically triggers the ascent to prevent any loss. What’s more, each buoy is fitted with a sacrificial component that will corrode after about a year’s submergence. Corrosion of this part disengages the locking arm and allows the buoy to rise to the surface, guaranteeing recovery even in the event of an electronic problem.

Can I use different gauge ropes with Devocean buoys?

Yes, Devocean buoys accept all rope gauges. The rewinder is preconfigured for three diameters: 5/8“, 1/2” and 3/8”. If you wish to use a different diameter, you can adjust the rewinder accordingly.
